Lessons

If you have a question please leave a comment below

My guitar lessons in Guernsey are targeted at fingerstyle and plectrum acoustic guitar styles. These would also be ideal for singers wanting to learn to accompany themselves. I hope the objective for students will be to work on material delivered during lessons in order to play fluidly and reach their fullest potential.

For a small deposit, a new player can loan a guitar until purchasing their own. And for players who have been put off in the past by sore fingertips, I would recommend trying a nylon string guitar, which is much gentler on the hands.

Lessons will cover technique, musicianship, theory and performance. Expression and communication will be developed via dynamics, timing, rhythm, phrasing and tone.

Teaching materials will consist of music in standard notation, guitar tablature and chord charts. These will be made available on my website or recommended for purchase by the pupil.

Terms and conditions
 1. Fees  £25 per hour
 2. Lessons will be in the students home/premises in evenings or at weekends.
 3. Enhanced Police Disclosure available upon request.
 4. I do not teach the syllabus for the graded guitar examinations.

    Hi Chris,

Could you teach the banjo? This would be for someone from scratch who can’t read music.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Thanks,
    Claire

      Hello Claire,

I’m afraid I don’t teach (or even play) The Banjo. Try Clem, the Bango player from The Barley Dogs. This is their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/TheBarleyDogs

      Good luck

      Chris

    Dear Chris,

I am looking into buying my partner some guitar lessons as a Christmas present. He is intermediate and I think he could use some lessons in technique and maybe even going over the basics. He needs a bit of a push to advance in his guitar skills.

Am I able to pay in advance for 4 guitar lessons and he can choose if he would like to proceed after that?

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Kerrina
